The Vacoas Rang Bhoomi Kala Mandir (VRBKM) Registered 13146 was founded in 1977 by Late Shri Gawkurrun Seetohul. Composed of many veteran and successful actors, directors and writers. VRBKM have been producing more than 250 actors through our 43 years. VRBKM presents plays and films in English, Hindi, Bhojpuri, Mauritian Creole (Local Language), Urdu.
In the Past 43 years, VRBKM have presented more than 150 one act Plays and 200 Radio Bhojpuri Jokes on the National Radio.
Its members have won many National Awards at different National Festival in different Languages. Furthermore the Group presented many public shows for different occasions around Mauritius.
Mostly all the plays are authored, directed and acted by members of VRBKM. Many Members created their own Drama Club and followed the steps of VRBKM and have been successful in their endeavour. In 2003, VRBKM presented a Full Length Play around Mauritius in Bhojpuri entitled “NAYA ZAMANA” which turns to be a success.the group also represented Mauritius in 2018 India for the 8th theatre olympics at National School Of drama Delhi .VRBKM also presented many nukkar natak (street plays) with young students last year and even organised competitions for youngsters to showcase their talent.
Artists are also sent to drama workshops which are organised by the Ministry Of Arts And Culture to develop their talents in a better way.
Recently VRBKM launched itself in the production of short film to create awareness on Social issues. Today VRBKM is blessed with a team of dynamic Young and Experienced actors who have been trained in house. Our Future Plans are to promote dramatic arts throughout Mauritius by producing high level of plays and encouraging youngsters to be part of the Drama World. Our play will be based on Mauritian culture and Traditions so that to keep the culture alive.
